We are hoping that the court order with permission to obtain the passport will help to get Julia's passport processed. There are no clear cut laws, rules, guidelines, or lists of required documents for obtaining a passport under legal guardianship. Basically, the Immigration Department does not understand "guardianship." We hope that this will be one more piece of documentation that will satisfy them.
We knew that we would need to go to court for permission to travel outside the jurisdiction of Kenya. This is required as part of the application for an American visa, but we had planned to do this after getting the passport. Since we are going back to court now, we are pursuing this at the same time.
I really do not foresee a problem with this at all, but prayers for a smooth morning in court would be greatly appreciated! I am in desperate need of a trip home.
Thanks!
