and God remembers the single mother

Kris and I recently started a Bible study on the women of the Bible. We could have started at any time. We could be at any point in the book right now. We could have started the single mothers project at any time. But God, in His sovereignty, has chosen such a time as this. And I am receiving the awesome blessing of seeing His hand at work through it, and seeing His Word played out in real pictures before my eyes! And I get to share that with these women!

We just finished studying Sarah, and are now beginning Hagar. How appropriate, don’t you think. Isn’t it so fun and exciting when God does that?!
Sarah, a season of waiting on the Lord to be followed by the display of His faithfulness in playing out His will in our lives. Exactly where I have been.
Hagar, a single mother who felt desperate and trapped in her circumstances, but God, in His provision, heard her desperate cries and gave her hope for a brighter future for her and her child. Exactly where these women are, the single mothers in our outreach ministry. Though we do not necessarily have slaves in our society, these women are in a position of weakness with no one to defend them. They are of seemingly little worth by society’s harsh standards. They feel trapped, and they feel mistreated.
But God hears them! He remembers them! He is there to offer them hope in their hopeless situation.

These women come from the slum. But God loves them enough to prepare a mansion for them! How exciting to be able to share that with them! What a privilege to tell them this story and reassure them that God remembers them, and that is why He has brought them here to this place, at this time in their lives.

God loves these women with His whole heart. He values them above all the riches of the world. He cherishes them like precious treasures.

And so do we.

Our first day of the new outreach program was AMAZING! God has great things in store for HCO and the HCO family this year. What a joy it will be to share it all with you!
