Judy and I continued to talk with Daniel. Judy also became good friends with Grace, another Believer who works there. Grace found a Bible for Daniel. (He asked for one!) We shared it with him and prayed with him. Over the next few days, Judy and I met with Daniel, Joseph and Grace. As Daniel continues to grow in his faith, he already has a framework of support in Believers who are there to disciple him!
As we were leaving, we were concerned about Daniel's decision. Did he really know and understand what he had prayed? Well, I believe he wants to know. To the best of his understanding at this point, he did.
Since we left, I have talked to Daniel several times. He calls and/or texts me every couple of days. He last told me that he is meeting with Joseph and Joseph is teaching him "more about Jesus and the new Bible." (New Testament) And, Grace has emailed positive comments to Judy. I am trusting that God is continuing to do a work in Daniel. He is hungry. I do believe that he is truly seeking the Truth.
(This is Daniel listening to Beth Moore on an IPOD!!!)
Many people in Africa tend to grab on to Americans in hopes of getting something out of them...money, a trip to America, whatever. That does not at all seem to be the case with Daniel! Believe me, I do have contacts still communicating with me for other reasons and alterior motives! I ask that you please pray for Daniel....and for all the people all over the world who are introduced to Christ through short-term missionaries. Pray that the Lord will place people in their paths to foster, disciple and encourage them in their new found knowledge of God's saving grace through Christ!

I am Robert Juday. I work with Susan Hicks who is our school nurse. I teach Special Education students. My wife and I have spent many years in missions, including 6 years in the Central African Republic. I just want to encourage you to follow your dream into missions if that is what God has called you to! There is no better life. You may not store many treasures here on earth, but that's not where it counts anyway! God bless you as you choose to follow Him!
Bob
Oh, thank you so much! I would love to hear more about your experiences. I hope to begin my two year term somewhere in Africa after the first of the year, as the Lord leads. Please tell my Aunt Susie hello! :-)
Dear Trena,
Thanks for the response. I certainly will say hi to Susie for you! She is a great school nurse and I always enjoy visiting with her! She thinks a lot of you.
My wife, Brenda and I first served in the Central african republic where I was the administrator for an international school for missionary kids. I also helped there in church planting. Our next term of missionary service was in Brazil with Wycliffe Translators. I was a school administrator there as well and had to fly into remote villages to work with parents who were teaching their children there. I was then asked to go to the Philippines where I started a Bible Institute for nationals and also planted a church. We have also served "short term" in Mexico, Uruguay, Poland and the Czech Republic.
I just want to encourage you to follow your "calling" from God. Leaving family and friends is very difficult and they don't always understand abut He does! He is always there to calm your anxieties and meet your needs. I have also learned over the years that one is not truly happy until he/she is in the very center of HIS will.
I will be anxious to hear how God works in and through you!
May God bless you richly as you choose to follow Him!
Robert Juday
